The History of The Tacrea House
The Tacrea House is located on 5 acres in Halifax County,
perfectly suited to its location among the most beautiful
properties in Southern Virginia. The original portion was
built circa 1740 of hand-hewn logs, and the new wing added
in 1766. Six generations of Patrick Henry's descendants occupied
the house, which is certified for inclusion in the Virginia
Register of Historic Sites. The entire home was restored and
modernized in 1995 with modern facilities, including central
air and heat. It is now beautifully furnished with family
heirlooms with a sense of style.
