Danville, Va. (Feb. 8) – VIRginia International Raceway is pleased to announce the construction of The Villas at South Bend, a 60-unit trackside residential development. A total of 10 buildings is planned, each containing six units. The Villas will be located on the south end of the historic 3.27-mile VIR circuit, from the signature Oak Tree Corner north toward the drive-over bridge.

Clearing for Building Nos. 1 and 2 by Oak Tree Corner is underway, with completion projected for summer 2007. Additional buildings will be constructed as they sell. Once four Villas in the next consecutive building are reserved, the commitment for construction will be made.

Alton, Va. (Jan. 12) – VIRginia International Raceway is pleased to announce that the very popular Ferrari Challenge Series, along with the Shell Historic Challenge, has been added to VIR’s calendar of events for the 2007 season.

The weekend of May 18-20, 2007 will see the return of the Ferrari Challenge and Shell Historic Challenge for the first time since 2002.

Alton, Va. (Jan. 5) – VIRginia International Raceway is proud to announce that Heacock Classic has been named the title sponsor of the Gold Cup Historic Races.

The Heacock Classic Gold Cup Historic Races is scheduled for the weekend of June 8-10, and this year’s event will celebrate the 50th anniversary of VIR’s opening in 1957 with a number of special guests and significant racing cars.
