AMA Superbikes Return to VIR

DANVILLE, VA.,  August 10 – The excitement of AMA Superbike road racing returns to VIRginia International Raceway this weekend for the Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals Presented by Dunlop and ROCKSTAR Energy Drink.

With a full three day weekend of practice, qualifying and racing, the on-track action is matched by the off-track activities. A bigger-than-ever vendor area is planned, with exhibits and demonstrations of nearly everything needed by a motorcyclist. Big screen displays will make sure nobody misses any of the action, no matter where you watch from.

Joining the Superbike contingent are Supersports, Formula Xtreme and Superstock bikes, plus stunt bikes, an expanded kids’ area, Friday night’s fun party, live music, plus more activities, and a virtual army of vendors and exhibitors to keep fans entertained.

The world’s biggest JumboTron viewing screen will keep you in sight of the action, even if it happens behind you. If the track action is at a pause, there are always the rock climbing wall, the wheelie machine and other off-track attractions to keep guests occupied, not to mention the music, umbrella girls, and more. Miss Big Kahuna – Heather Smith is sure to be a star attraction, after being the featured Playmate in February of this year.

“We’re very excited about returning for the third year at VIR,” said Cameron Gray, president and CEO of M1 Entertainment, the event’s promoters. “We love the track and the event is growing every year.

“The Superbike race is always a highlight of our summer,” said track General Manager Josh Lief. “We enjoy the excitement and competition as much as the guests and riders, and want them both to keep coming back year after year.”

VIRginia International Raceway is a multi-purpose road racing facility, located on the Dan River between Danville and South Boston, Va. In addition to its 3.27-mile natural-terrain road racing circuit, VIR is the cornerstone of VIR Club, America's first motorsports country club; the VIR Raceplex Industrial Park; Plantation Valley Kart Track, a 5/8-mile paved karting circuit; The Lodge at VIR; the VIR Paddock Suites and Garages; the new villas at South Bend, a 60-unit residential villa complex; Camp Motorsport, a motorsports-themed summer camp for young people aged 10-16; and the Oak Tree Tavern, a full-service restaurant located within the circa-1840 Plantation Clubhouse.
