How will Member Driving Days be scheduled?

VIR will provide numerous opportunities throughout the year for VIR Club members to drive all six course configurations. The Member Driving Day schedule will be published at least three months in advance so Members can plan accordingly. Additional days will be added throughout the year to meet demand so, by participating early, you will help ensure a growing schedule of dedicated members days. The schedule includes weekend days as well as weekdays. Weekdays are offered at a discount for those who have flexible schedules and prefer to drive in smaller classes. Those of you with approved competition licenses and competition prepared cars may enjoy any of the open test days at a 25% discount. Pre-registration for open test days is not required. On a typical member day, a driving group will be offered three - four ½ hour sessions. Members are required to pre-register so that run groups can be planned. Pre-registration forms are available on the website and mailed through the Club Newsletter four weeks prior to each Member Day. Reservations with payment will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.

I would like to keep a car on site. Can I reserve a long-term garage now?

Member storage garages are available for occupancy in the Raceplex.  Garage space will be made available on a first come, first serve basis with priority given to the member with the lower serial number. The same will hold true for the residential villas and any other perks and privileges that may have a waiting list.

There are three drivers in my immediate family. Do we each have to join to drive on a Member Day?

No. The spouses and unmarried children under the age of 21, who share the same household as the member, may use the Club facilities to the same extent as the member as well as drive on any Member Day(s) by completing the appropriate registration and technical inspection forms, and paying any required fees. The age limit is extended to 25 years for "children" who are attending an accredited academic institution with family support and residing at home when not in school. Otherwise an adult child of a member will need his/her own membership to drive on a Member Day but they may use the other country club facilities up to three times per year as guests of the member.

What are the requirements of the drivers and cars?

All drivers are required to have helmets and advanced car inspection.  As a driver becomes more experienced, there are additional requirements involving equipment and having completed a professional driving school course or passed the VIR driving school program.

What if I am interested in membership at VIR Club but I do not race?

VIR Club celebrates the automotive lifestyle and the enthusiast at any level from the casual collector to the notable concours competitor, from the novice driver to the professional racer.  While the racers readily appreciate the various circuits and the seat time, most of the VIR Club members do no race so there is no reason for non-racers to feel uncomfortable. The Touring Lights group is restricted to highway speeds with no passing. It offers the perfect opportunity to drive the historic VIR racecourse with a friend or family member without any pressure or expensive vehicle modifications or equipment. With experience, Touring Lights drivers can progress to the Touring, Sports Racer/Open Wheel and High Speed groups.

What is Corporate Membership?

VIRginia International Raceway and the VIR Club are proud to announce a new form of Club Membership that will enhance your corporate or business entertainment and hospitality needs. Corporate Memberships will allow your company or business to become a part of the VIR "Fun, Fast and World Class" experience.

For $5000  your Corporate Membership will entitle you to two named individual memberships with FULL member privileges along with driving rights on a pay-as-you-go basis.

In addition your Corporate Membership will receive two Corporate Member cards with your company name and member number. This card will enable you to use your Corporate Membership for entertainment and hospitality needs. These cards will entitle the bearer and one other person to member privileges at the facility. This would include unescorted entry to the facility events, clubhouse, parking, pool as a regular member, but without driving rights.

These cards would be the responsibility of the Corporate Member to protect, with the Member encouraged not to use the card as another membership but for entertainment and hospitality of clients, friends, associates and/or staff, or as a perk for doing business with your company.

Corporate Members will be responsible for Corporate cardholder charges, but some discretion would be allowed for the Corporate cardholders who wish to settle with cash rather than allowing the member to be billed.

Corporate Members are also entitled to 10 tickets to each spectator event, 20% discount for ads in program guides, one free tent rental on Gold Cup or Grand-Am race.  VIRginia International Raceway appreciates your business interest in VIR and the VIR Club. We welcome your business cooperation in distributing and displaying VIR advertising materials, posters and brochures at your place of business and we will assist you in providing information about our activities and facilities for your business.

For further information please contact Gina Drastal, Director of Member Services, by email at gdrastal@virclub.com or by phone at (434) 822-7700 ext. 111.
