The Academy of Motorsports (Academy) is pleased to announce its curriculum for 2009. The Academy will implement the curriculum through a rich combination of classroom instruction, hands-on lab and field experience, field trips, and guest speakers and lecturers. Students who enroll in The Academy will spend mornings in academic lessons at Carlisle School, an IB World School, and four afternoons weekly in motorsports training.

"The Academy of Motorsports promises to prepare students through Classroom education, Motorsports education and Racing activities and not just for time behind the wheel. The Academy seeks to promote their knowledge of all aspects of the industry," remarks Simon-Owen Williams, Carlisle School Headmaster. "The program offers a comprehensive array of specialty training in engineering, the pure sciences, leadership, health and wellness, dealing with the media and understanding the motorsports industry and how it operates. In short, it aims to cover everything that you will need to have to be ahead of the competition by the time you have graduated high school."

Driving training will be customized based on individual students' ability level and desires. The vehicles available include, but are not limited to, asphalt & dirt karts, Legends oval & road course cars, sports car & open wheel road course cars, NASCAR Late Model Stock cars, Rolex GT cars, and NASCAR Camping World cars. These cars can be tested at a variety of tracks within the area including Virginia International Raceway, Martinsville Speedway, South Boston Speedway, Motor Mile Speedway, and Ace Speedway.
